Integrity is the second tenet of taekwondo and is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. Tenets of taekwondo are the foundational life skills we teach and encourage our students to live by both on and off our mats.
While actively practicing martial arts, we ask our students to show integrity by always giving 100% effort. We also ask they apply moral uprightness while engaging with other students or instructors. While off the mats on a day-to-day basis, we make sure they have an understanding of what living a life of integrity looks like (especially for our younger students). In kids classes, we frequently cover subjects such as honesty, doing the right thing when no one is looking, and being the best versions of themselves they can be regardless of the situation they are placed in. We want our students to have a black belt attitude and mentality 24/7.
Martial Arts is more than just a sport, and a black belt is more than just a piece of the uniform; it is a lifestyle.
